EU Funding for Migration and Asylum: New Call for Proposals and Best Practices

Using a bottom-up approach, the purpose of the seminar is twofold:
(1) to discuss with the Member States the type of guidance required from the Commission so as to succeed in receiving EU funding for migration and asylum as well as to effectively and efficiently apply the relevant legal bases on implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
(2) to identify good practices and best funded projects.

With the advent of the new call for proposals, future funding opportunities and strategic guidelines on how to make the best use of the Integration Fund will be discussed.

Making Sense of Migration Statistics: Comparing Data and Practical Application
in collaboration with ICMPD (The International Centre for Migration Policy Development)
14-15/Oct/2010 • Brussels

Statistical data are increasingly relevant for the daily work of public officials and other public sector stakeholders dealing with migration, integration and asylum issues. The Stockholm Programme mandates the development of both ‘core indicators’ for monitoring the results of integration policies within the EU as well as ‘migration profiles’ for the third countries, so that the Union can better assess its own priorities and potential concerns.

The seminar aims to examine conceptual, definitional and analytical issues, including the uses and purposes of statistical data. It will provide:
(a) data needs from a comparative approach;
(b) available international and European statistical data sources; and
(c) practical training with regard to using such tools.
It will also identify and address problems of data collection for regular and irregular migration and human rights.
